Punjab: IAS Parampal Kaur resigns, joins BJP

Chandigarh, Apr 11 (UNI) IAS Parampal Kaur on Thursday joined the BJP after taking voluntary retirement from her service in the Punjab government amid drama over the acceptance of her resignation.
Parampal Kaur, the daughter-in-law of senior Akali leader Sikander Singh Maluka, is likely to be the BJP candidate from the Bathinda constituency in the Lok Sabha elections.
She and her husband Gurpreet Singh joined the BJP in New Delhi in the presence of Vijay Rupani, the party's Punjab Affairs Incharge.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann tweeted that the resignation of the IAS officer has not been accepted by the Punjab Government adding that there were some protocols to be followed before resigning from the post.
Later, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) announced the acceptance of Kaur's application under the Voluntary Retirement Scheme. UNI GS MR

Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) Police on Thursday attached properties of a Pakistan based terror handler in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Police said after obtaining an attachment order from the Court of Sub Judge Uri, it attached properties (6 Kanals & 10 Marlas) land worth lakhs belonging to a terror handler based in Pakistan identified as Adrees Ahmad Mir a resident of Singtung Gowhallan Uri.
