Truncated Punjab Assembly session mockery of democracy: AAP

Chandigarh, Aug 26 (UNI) The Aam Aadmi party (AAP) Punjab has severely criticised the govt in the saddle for truncating the upcoming Monsoon session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha to a single day, slated for August 28, saying that if the assembly session could be convened for a day amid Corona guidelines, why could not it be extended for 15 days? It said the government was running away from facing the heat of the opposition party over the questions and concerns of the people of Punjab.
In a letter written to Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana KP Singh, Sunam MLA Aman Arora on behalf of AAP had demanded that the upcoming Monsoon Session be extended to 15 days so that every issue could be discussed and debated threadbare and decisions be taken in the public interest. He pointed out that the Amarinder Singh government was pursuing suicidal policies in the guise of Corona, which the Aam Aadmi Party had always opposed.
Aman Arora in the letter has demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had been insisting on holding at least 40 sittings annually under Section 14A of the Punjab Assembly Rules and Procedure, saying reducing it to a single was an affront to democracy. He added that the frontline corona warriors, including doctors, health workers, government employees, traders, businessmen and media personnel were performing their duties in the big battle against the corona epidemic, why then the government, ministers and MLAs were stepping back from performing theirs?
