NC-PDP part of INDIA alliance : Omar Abdullah

NC-PDP part of INDIA alliance : Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, Apr 2 (UNI) Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said that his National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Mehbooba Mufti are part of the INDIA alliance and the media was trying to create a 'wedge' between the two.
“We were together on the stage during the recent INDIA alliance meet ( in New Delhi) and nobody has broken the alliance”, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah told media persons in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Asked if PDP announces its candidate and that it would divide the votes and BJP will be benefited with that, Omar said, "you would like to have such a situation, but I did not get any hint like that".
When asked if the PDP is a challenge for NC, Omar said “why are you trying to have our fight with PDP. Does PDP anywhere say that they are going to contest the elections”, he questioned.
“PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti during the recent INDIA alliance meet in Delhi said that Farooq Abdullah and his party are together and will never break the alliance”, Omar said.
The former JK Chief Minister asked the media persons why they don’t expose the A team, B team and C team of the BJP instead.
When asked that after the pressure of the Enforcement Directorate on political leaders, there has been change in the policy over seat sharing by NC, Omar said that “there was no change in our saying during the election campaign speeches”.
The NC Vice President said "Our formula of seat sharing was the same which we did during the DDC elections. "
Regarding announcing the candidature of Mian Altaf from the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency, Omar said Mian Altaf belongs to Kashmir. "As much he belongs to Rajouri-Poonch as he belongs to other parts of the Kashmir valley", he said.
“If the Prime Minister of a country belongs to Gujarat and is contesting elections from Uttar Pradesh, why the media channels does not have any objection with that”, he questioned and added “even candidates from south India being given tickets from north India to Rajya Sabha”.
Regarding the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, the former CM said “not only the people, the powerful countries of the world have taken notice how the ruling dispensation is targeting the selected opposition leaders ahead of the Parliament Election in India”.
Kejriwal is the second Chief Minister who has been arrested recently, he said, adding arresting a Chief Minister and using the agencies for it, is a “very dangerous situation for the democracy of the country”.
“The country will have to suffer the consequences of such a policy for a long time”, he declared.
“We hope the Supreme Court and the Election Commission of India will never take such steps for granted rather it will take appropriate measures to stop it”, Omar said.
