Contractors in J&K facing payment delays; Mehbooba Mufti seeks LG’s intervention

Srinagar, Apr 1 (UNI) Jammu & Kashmir People’s Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti on Monday urged Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene and address the issue of withholding payments to contractors.
The PDP chief and former chief minister said that the contractors across the region are facing significant delays in receiving payments despite completing various projects, and the administration must resolve their issues on a priority basis.
“The contractors, who often secure substantial loans from banks to fulfill tender conditions, are now grappling with withheld payments, causing distress to their families, especially with Eid approaching,” Mehbooba said in a statement.
