Priority is safeguarding JK's core identity and interests: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, Apr 20 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday said the ongoing electoral battle transcends mere developmental issues and priority is safeguarding JK's core identity.
In a series of roadshows across various hamlets of South Kashmir's Pahalgam, Mufti underscored the significance of unity among the people of Jammu and Kashmir, urging them to rise above partisan politics and prioritize the greater cause.
She termed the PDP as the torchbearer of truth and the protector of people's interests in the region's political landscape.
Mufti also highlighted the multifaceted challenges facing Jammu and Kashmir's populace, ranging from economic burdens to social injustices.
"The current scenario in Jammu and Kashmir reflects a systematic assault on our rights and resources. From skyrocketing electricity bills to the denial of employment opportunities for educated youth, our people are bearing the brunt of these injustices. Our lands are being taken away from us, and our resources and our jobs are being bartered to outsiders. Our people are being turned into bonded laborers with no identity and no say," Mufti lamented, addressing the crowd.
Drawing parallels to past struggles overcome by Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba invoked the repeal of POTA (Prevention of Terrorism Act) and the restoration of hope during PDP founder Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's tenure as Chief Minister.
With unwavering determination, she pledged to reverse the losses incurred on August 5, 2019, promising a resurgence of rights and dignity for the people of Kashmir.
"I promise you that we will get back whatever was snatched away from us post-August 5,2019. However, it is imperative for us to remain vigilant and united in the face of adversity. We must not lose hope, for history has shown that change is possible even in the darkest of times," Mufti claimed.
