LS polls: RO issues notification for Srinagar parliamentary constituency

Srinagar, Apr 18 (UNI) Returning Officer Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency issued an election notification for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the constituency on Thursday.
The election in Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency is scheduled to take place on May 13.
The last date to file nominations is April 25. “Nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or any of his/her proposers to the Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner Srinagar), 2-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, or ARO, Additional Deputy Commissioner (M) at DC Office Srinagar, Amar Niwas Complex, between 11:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. on any day (other than Public Holiday) not later than April 25, (Thursday);” the notification read.
It added that nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny at RO Office Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, April 26 and the withdrawal of papers is April 29.
“Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his/her proposers or by his/her election agent who has been authorised in writing by the candidate,” the notification said.
Talking to media persons the District Magistrate Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat who is also RO of Srinagar Parliamentary constituency said that there are 18 Assembly segments of the constituency consisting of one in Shopian district, four in Pulwama , three in Budgam , two in Ganderbal and eight in Srinagar district.
He said there are more than 17 Lakh voters in the constituency including more than 2 lakh new voters who have been added after the delimitation, and will poll their ballots on the day.
Bhat said Srinagar Parliamentary constituency has 2135 polling stations including 929 polling stations in Srinagar alone.
The RO under the guideline of Election Commission of India the person with the age group of 85+years can exercise their franchise through the postal ballot after fulfilling the 12D form which has been distributed to the BLO’s of the constituency.
He said there would be each “pink” polling station in every Assembly constituency for the women voters so that the preparations are underway.

Bhat said that for differently abled persons there will be a differently abled person in all the 18 segments of Srinagar parliamentary constituency who will man for booth
“We have ensured that AMF (Assured Minimum Facility) in all the 2935 polling stations of Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency with the adequate staff who will help so that polling could be held peacefully”, Bhat said.
