HP: Ruling Cong may file election petition for RS poll

Shimla, Mar 5 (UNI) After an unexpected result in the Rajya Sabha election, the ruling Congress of Himachal Pradesh may file an election petition before the Himachal Pradesh High Court, alleging rigging in the February 27 polling.
The state government counsel in the Himachal Pradesh High Court told UNI that the state government is working to move an election petition, challenging free and fairness of poll as six of its members of legislative assembly are allegedly in the custody of Haryana police and CRPF jawan who were deployed at the behest of BJP-ruled Haryana and Central Government.
It is worthwhile to mention that noted Supreme Court lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi lost the RS poll after polling got tied at 34 each, and former Congress rebel and BJP-nominated candidate Harash Mahajan was declared the winner in a highly unexpected move.
