Tech for Tribals programme launched by IIT(K) in Chhattisgarh

Kanpur, Oct 13(UNI) TRIFED under Ministry of Tribal Affairs with support from Ministry of MSME, in collaboration with Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce (Trading and Development) Co-operative Federation Limited (CGMFPFED) and IIT Kanpur,has launched nation-wide “Tech for Tribals” initiative at Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
Tech for Tribals - A game-changing, and a unique project aimed to transform 5 crore Tribal Entrepreneurs aims at capacity building and imparting entrepreneurship skills to tribal forest produce gatherers enrolled under the VanDhan Yojana.
This entire program involves creating successful entrepreneurs among tribals comprises training, transfer of technology know-how and supporting them to build a market for their products. The year-long program will cover more than 4000 wanna-be tribal entrepreneurs spanning 750 SHGs across 139 VanDhan Vikas Kendra from Chhattisgarh. The participants will undergo a 30 days program spread over several weeks, comprising 120 sessions. It is a unique program to make tribals of India “Aatmanirbhar”, focusing on bridging the gap between tribal entrepreneurs and urban markets.

Three militants including the top most local wanted commander Basit Dar of the “The Resistance Front' (TRF), an organisation believed to be a shadow outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed on Tuesday in a gun battle at Redwani Payeen Kulgam
Sources said a joint team of security forces established a fresh contact with a hiding militant on Wednesday during continued searches at Redwani Payeen area of Kulgam as they had inputs about three militants in the house and out of them two were killed on Tuesday.
