UP: Girl shot, thrown in canal by brothers for family honour

Kasganj (UP), Mar 4 (UNI) A high school student was shot at and later thrown into a canal by his brothers allegedly for family honour in Dholna area of Kasganj district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the, a resident of Gautam Buddha Nagar, was shot by his brothers Nitin and Golu. "With the help of their uncle Pawan, Nitin and Golu threw the victim in the Hazara canal. The victim somehow managed to contact the police and narrated the incident," they said.
Police sources said that the victim has alleged that her brothers were unhappy with her for talking with a boy over the phone. "The victim has alleged that earlier her brothers assaulted her over the same issue. After this she left her house and reached her grandmother's house in Bulandshahr," they said.
