UP: Criminal arrested in police encounter

Sitapur (UP), Mar 15 (UNI) A criminal carrying a cash reward of Rs 25,000 was arrested in an encounter with the police in Khairabad area of Sitapur district here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that a joint team of Khairabad police and Special Operations Group (SOG) intercepted a motorcycle during vehicle checking on Rahimabad bridge. "On being challenged, the miscreants opened fire on the police and sustained bullet injury in his leg in retaliatory firing," they said.
Police sources said that the arrested criminal was identified as Vinod, a resident of Barabanki. "Around 11 cases are lodged against the accused. The injured criminal has been admitted to the hospital," they said.
