Canada-based gangster, among others, booked for extortion

Phagwara, Mar 22 (UNI) The Nakodar City police have booked a Canada-based and Nakodar-native gangster and his unidentified accomplices on the charge of extortion by putting a person in fear of death.
SHO Sanjiv Kapur said the accused has been identified as Sandip Singh alias Sunni of Mohalla Preet Nagar, Nakodar city and presently living in Canada, and his unidentified accomplices.
The victim reported to the police that on March 14 morning he received a phone call, the caller introduced himself as Jaggu Bhagwan Puria from Kapurthala jail and asked him to arrange Rs 5 Lakhs within five days and if he failed, he would be shot dead.
