Travel agent couple arrested for duping villager of Rs 43 lakhs

Phagwara, Apr 24 (UNI) Punjab Police have arrested a travel agent couple on the charge of duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs 43 lakh on the pretext of sending him abroad.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Amandeep Singh, who is the investigating officer in the case, said Avtar Singh alias Tari of Sohal Jagir village and his wife Jaswant Kaur are accomplices of the main accused Nirmal Singh of Punia Mand village under Shahkot police station.
Sodhi Singh, a resident of Lasoorri village had complained to the police that he had paid Rs 43 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Canada. However, he was neither sent abroad nor returned the money.
