Green hydrogen policy approved in UP

Lucknow, Mar 5 (UNI) Taking another big step towards the production of environment friendly energy in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved the Green Hydrogen Policy.
Energy Minister AK Sharma said that hydrogen is used as fuel in big factories like fertiliser plants, petrochemical plants, and steel plants. "Until now, the technology for producing hydrogen was based on electricity or gas, which is called grey hydrogen. A huge amount of work has started towards converting grey hydrogen into green hydrogen. In the policy, a target has been set to produce one million metric tons of green hydrogen every year in the coming four years, that is, by 2028," he said.
He said that the policy will be for five years. "The industries that will come here within this period will be given Rs 5,045 crore as subsidies and other reliefs. Such industries will be given 10 to 30 percent subsidy on capital expenditure," he said.
