COVID-19 lockdown in J&K till Aug 5

Srinagar, Jul 31 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday extended the COVID-19 lockdown guidelines until August 5.
An order issued here by Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in this regard said that in exercise of powers conferred under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the State Executive Committee (SEC) hereby orders that the guidelines/ instructions issued to remain valid till August 5.
It stated that the Union Home Secretary in his capacity as Chairperson NEC has issued fresh guidelines for implementation of the extended lockdown in Containment Zones (Red Zones) till August 31 and reopening some more activities in areas outside Containment Zones (Red Zones); and “these guidelines require State and UT Governments to assess the current spread of the COVID-19 pandemic and based on this assessment, prohibit certain activities outside the Containment Zones or impose such restrictions as deemed necessary, which will require a detailed assessment and consultations on the spread of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir,” it added.

Three militants including the top most local wanted commander Basit Dar of the “The Resistance Front' (TRF), an organisation believed to be a shadow outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed on Tuesday in a gun battle at Redwani Payeen Kulgam
Sources said a joint team of security forces established a fresh contact with a hiding militant on Wednesday during continued searches at Redwani Payeen area of Kulgam as they had inputs about three militants in the house and out of them two were killed on Tuesday.
