Ballia, April 25 (UNI) Four youths were killed and one injured when an SUV in which they were travelling rammed into a tree and overturned at Chitbaragaon area of Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Thursday.
The sources said that the accident took place late on Wednesday night when Kamlesh Yadav (36), a resident of Badhwalia village, along with Raju Yadav (30), Chhotu Yadav (30), Ritesh Gond (32) and Satyendra Yadav (40) were going in the SUV to Chitbaragaon.
"Near an eatery, the SUV rammed into the tree and overturned," they said.
The sources also said that Satyendra, Raju, and Kamlesh were killed on the spot. "Chhotu and Ritesh were seriously injured in the incident and were referred to Varanasi for treatment. Ritesh succumbed to injuries while being taken to Mau," they said.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Durga Prasad Tiwari said that the family members of the deceased have been informed. Police investigation is underway.
