Nearly 253 Roads still snowbound in HP

Shimla, Feb 23 (UNI) As many as 253 road are still snowbound in the state of Himachal Pradesh as Public Works Department could throw open only 97 roads on Saturday.
A government spokesman confirmed that out of 350 roads which were closed due to snow and landslide yesterday, about 97 roads were cleared today with favorable weather condition in the state. Most of roads are closed for last one week with very heavy snowfall and avalanches in the state .
According to an estimates about 30 avalanches had hit the snowline areas rendering loss to the lives, properties, roads and infrastructure. State government is deploying heavy machinery to clear the road. More than 117 roads are closed in Kangra Zone of HP PWD region followed by 76 roads in Mandi and 51 in Shimla.
