NC's democratic, peaceful battle for restoration of special status of J&K will continue: Dr Farooq

Srinagar, Aug 5 (UNI) Reiterating that his party’s position on the "unilateral, unconstitutional and undemocratic decisions taken on this day in 2019" will never change, National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said that it will continue its democratic and peaceful battle for the restoration of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Farooq made these comments while addressing a meeting of party functionaries here at NC’s headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar on the second anniversary of the revocation of Article 370 and Article 35A -- two articles that gave a special status to the then state in terms of autonomy over its internal administration.
“August 5 decision was a lethal assault on the country’s secular visage, its pluralistic and asymmetrical federalism and violation of sovereign promises made by the country to the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he said.
