Kohima, Apr 19 (UNI) The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) of Dimapur Sub-Circle, on the occasion of World Heritage Day, organised a celebration programme at the monoliths Kachari Kingdom ruins at Rajbari in Dimapur yesterday, the biggest historical site in Nagaland. According to a statement issued by the ASI informed that in the first session, Conservation Assistant of the ASI Gunangshu Kalita, who spoke on the importance of heritage, said cultural heritage plays an important role in human lives as it is what keeps them attached to their religion, tradition and beliefs.
He said the best way to preserve one's cultural heritage is to share it with others and that it is also the responsibility of the present generation to keep intact the cultural heritage and history for the future generations so that the latter may have the opportunity to learn about the past and their own roots.
Kalita urged the gathering to redouble efforts in protecting and preserving the rich cultural heritage and historical sites and monuments. Kalita further informed that alongside the World Heritage Day, ASI is also observing the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ or Clean India Mission fortnight (April 16-30) to create mass awareness on the importance of cleanliness and the need to keep heritage sites litter free.
