NABARD’s Promotional Support in Tripura on Climate Change Initiatives

Udaipur, Feb 17 (UNI) In the state credit focus paper of NABARD, it has revealed that the threat of climate change is real and it is needed to take appropriate adaptation and mitigation measures to build a climate resilient and climate resilient and climate smart agriculture, which is the mainstay of all economic activities in Tripura, contributing 45 percent to the sate GDP of Tripura.
The NABARD has given importance on climate change and Sunil Kumar GM of NABARD for Tripura said it in course of conversation with UNI in the state focus seminar at Pragna Bhaban, Agartala that the role of NABARD is very positive for providing financial & promotional support to take appropriate action in view of save the environment. Climate Change Initiatives in Tripura is more relevant because the climate change increases volatility and threatens, said a section of scientists and econometricians of the state Tripura.
The report published by Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, GOI that the north-eastern states of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, hilly states of Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura and himalayan ecosystem is vital to the ecological security of the Indian landmass. It plays a crucial role in providing forest cover; feeding perennial rivers that are the source of drinking water, irrigation, and hydropower; conserving biodiversity; providing a rich base for high-value agriculture.
