Patna, July 5 (UNI) NDA presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday interacted with Bihar's NDA MPs and MLAs including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to seek their support for her candidature in the election for the country's top post.
Bihar Deputy Chief Ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi, state BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal, former Bihar Chief Minister Jeetan Ram Manjhi, Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras and LJP(Ramvilas) MP Chirag Paswan were among others who welcomed Murmu at Patna Airport.
Soon after her arrival, Murmu paid floral tributes to the statue of freedom fighter and tribal leader Birsa Munda before going for the interaction.at a posh hotel in Patna.
Chief Minister Kumar said his party JD(U) had already announced its support for Murmu in the presidential elections.
"It is my pleasure that a tribal woman is set to become President. I have full confidence that Ms Murmu will win the presidential elections with a thumping majority," the Chief Minister told mediapersons after the meeting with Murmu.
state BJP President Sanjay Jaiswal said that it was heartening to note that a Santhal Adivasi woman Murmu was set to become President.
"Murmu has a clean Image and she has no connection with any controversy", Jaiswal said appealing to every opposition party to extend its support to her in the presidential election. UNI KKS SSP
