MP Govt’s focus on ‘clean’ energy

MP Govt’s focus on ‘clean’ energy

Bhopal, Nov 28 (UNI) Renewable energy – ‘pure, sure and secure’ – accounts for 20 per cent of Madhya Pradesh’s total power generation and the state government’s strategy is to seamlessly expand the solar component to 10,000 MW.
In the words of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, “Investment in the sector will be encouraged. Land has been identified for solar parks in Morena, Sagar, Damoh and Ratlam districts. Madhya Pradesh shall emerge as a partner in realising Premier Narendra Modi’s dream of executing such projects.”

At this juncture, the state’s renewable energy yield is 5,000 MW; which is significantly higher than the 438 MW figure in 2012. A 750 MW solar undertaking was established in Rewa and is among the world’s largest such enterprises. The cost per unit is the lowest at only Rs 2.97. In previous years, outlay of Rs 25,000 crore was made in the sphere; it was officially learnt.

As many as 21,500 solar pumps have been set up in Madhya Pradesh and the target is a lakh such devices by 2022. A 130 MW unit was completed in Neemuch in 2014 and a 250 MW one in Mandsaur in 2017. A 2,900 km-long line and 11 sub-stations are being developed under the Green Energy Corridor. A total 15 power grid sub-stations are in existence. A floating plant is proposed in Omkareshwar.

The Centre has approved 3,600 MW parks in Agar-Malwa, Shajapur, Neemuch, Chhatarpur and Omkareshwar with a projected funding of Rs 15,000 cr.
