MP floods: Team briefs CM

Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) A central study team – on a visit to assess damage caused by excessive precipitation and floods in Madhya Pradesh – informed Chief Minister Kamal Nath on Friday of its initial appraisal and shall prepare a preliminary report by next week while the final one would be readied subsequent to receiving a memorandum for assistance from the state, it was officially learnt.
“The entire state suffered heavily barring Vindhya region. It is imperative to commence health-related activities also as soon as the rainfall ceases. I myself will visit the zones and take stock of the situation,” the Chief Minister told the group at Mantralaya.
The experts said that three units were constituted and toured villages in Mandsaur, Agar Malwa, Raisen, Rajgarh and Vidisha districts. Soya and pulses are more severely hit. Slopes, small bridges and culverts were destroyed and numerous hamlets’ road links severed.
