Lucknow, Aug 15 (UNI) Cornering the state government on the murder of a Dalit in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said that there is no difference between the former Samajwadi Party government and the current Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in view of the kind of oppression being faced by the Dalits.
Ms Mayawati tweeted, "The news of the brutal murder of Dalit Pradhan Satyamev Jayate Pappu on the eve of the Independence Day in Azamgarh's Basgaon and the death of another after being crushed is very sad. What is the difference between the previous SP government and the current BJP government when these kinds of atrocities and murder are being faced by the Dalits in UP?"
In another tweet condemning an incident in Lakhimpur, she said, "The rape and murder of a Dalit minor in the Pakriya village of Lakhimpur Kheri is extremely sad and shameful. What is the difference between the former SP and the current BJP governments when such incidents are happening? It is the BSP's demand that the government should take strict action against the culprits behind the Kheri incident along with the Azamgarh matter."
