Manali, Narkanda snowing, sky overcast in Shimla

Shimla, Jan 6 (UNI) Tourist resort Manali, Dalhousie, Kufri and Narkanda was snowing on Sunday and sky was overcast in the state likely to experience widespread rain or snowfall as many roads in the high snow line are already blocked due to the heavy snowfall.
According to the reports, Manali and its nearby areas in the Kullu is snowing since Saturday registering 10 to 15 cm snowfall.
The highest point in the district, Jalori jot, at height of 12000 feet, received heavy snowfall disrupting vehicular traffic to Ani, Nirmand of Kullu and Rampur of Shimla district.
High reaches of Manali recorded moderate to heavy snowfall.
The high snowline areas in Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, Kinnaur and Kangra district were experiencing snowfall intermittently since last two days.
The gateway to Lahaul Spiti , at 13050 ft, Rohtang pass experienced two to three feet fresh snowfall.
The pass is closed for vehicular traffic since December, 2018.
Similarly, high reaches of district like Kunzum Pass, Goshal hill, lady of Keylong peak and seven sister's peak recorded heavy snowfall.
Keylong recorded about 13 cm fresh snowfall, Koti 35 cm, Gramphu 20 cm and Udaipur 15 cm.
According to the reports, Dalhousie, Pangi-Bharmour region of Chamba district, Barbangal and Dhauladhar of Kangra, Shikari Devi of Mandi, Kinner and Shrikhand Kailash ranges of Kinner, Dodra Kawar and Kharpather of Shimla, Haripurdhar and Churdhar of Shimla received fresh snowfall.
After heavy snowfall at Chanshal pass, Kharpather and Khirki the vehicular traffic was disrupted to Dodra Kawar area of Shimla disrict, Rohru and Chopal of Shimla.
Narkanda and Kufri received mild to light snowfall however vehicular traffic is through on Hindustan Tibet National highway number five.
Tourist resort Manali experienced nine cm and 13 mm rain , Kalpa in Kinnuar received 13 cm and Chopal in Shimla got six cm rainfall.
In the downstream areas of state, Una recorded 21.8 mm rainfall, Palampur in Kangra 15.7 mm, Seobagh in Kullu 13.2 mm.
Fresh snowfall and rainfall is considered beneficial for ripening of Rabi corps in the mid and low line areas.
Moreover, in the high reaches snow is essential for apple orchards.
Meanwhile, state is under the grip of extreme cold wave as Keylong in Lahaul Spiti was at minus 8.7 degrees Celsius
Kalpa recorded minus 3.8 degrees, Kufri registered minus three degrees, Manali at minus 1.2 degrees, Shimla 1.7 degrees, Dharmshala two degrees , Solan 2.5 degrees, Nahan 4.7 degrees, Bhuntar five degrees, Kangra 5.7 degrees, Chamba six degrees, Sundernagar 6.6 degrees, Kangra seven degrees,Una 7.2 degrees, Bilasur 7.6 degrees and Hamirpur eight degree C.
The Met office has a forecast of rain or snowfall in many parts of state in next 24 hrs , issuing warning of heavy snowfall at isolated parts of the state.

Srinagar, May 8 (UNI) Security forces on Wednesday neutralised one more militant in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, taking the toll in the gun battle that erupted Monday night to 3.
Three militants including the top most local wanted commander Basit Dar of the “The Resistance Front' (TRF), an organisation believed to be a shadow outfit of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, were killed on Tuesday in a gun battle at Redwani Payeen Kulgam
Sources said a joint team of security forces established a fresh contact with a hiding militant on Wednesday during continued searches at Redwani Payeen area of Kulgam as they had inputs about three militants in the house and out of them two were killed on Tuesday.
