Hamirpur (HP), Jan 17 (UNI) Entire lower Himachal Pradesh consisting of the districts of Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Kangra, Solan and parts of Mandi are in the grip of severe cold waves thanks to the icy cool sweeping across the region and emitting from nearby ranges of Himalayas.
The day and night temperature both have fallen sharply and sky was overcast with dark clouds on Monday.
At many places there was drizzling for a few minutes giving the indication that the region is going to experience rains in the coming three days as forecast by the Department of Met on Sunday.
Fearing the wrath of the Cold on one hand, growing Corona virus on other hand, people in the region are compelled to adorn heavy woolens and to remain indoors.
Since educational institutions are closed till January 26th and only fifty percent government staff is on duty in the offices, the movement of the people in the main bazaars of the district was thin. Traders were seen gossiping among them and warming their hands with help of the heaters kept inside their establishments.
Meanwhile, braving the chilly weather, the staff of the health Department was seen busy in their vaccination work to the school children on one hand, and others including the aged people on other hand.
CMO, Hamirpur, Dr RK Agnihotri said that the work for the vaccination was going on with full pace all over the district despite chilly weather and he was hopeful that all the targets given to them would be achieved in time.
