Lakhs of devotees observe Shravani Somwar in Nashik

Nashik, Aug 19 (UNI) Lakhs of devotees, coming from several parts of Maharashtra, poured in the holy Trimbakeshwar town here to observe the third Shravani Somwar.
Barring the age groups, devotees in huge numbers started alighting in this district since Sunday so as to take a solemn dip in the Teerthraj Kushavarta followed by 'pheri' or religious circumvention.
The 'pheri' forms an integral part of the rituals being performed on this auspicious occasion.
Performing the 'pheri',either 20 km or 40 km,the devotees set afoot around the Brahmagiri hills, which lies in the vicinity of the Godavari river's origin.
The temples of Someshwar and Kapaleshwar here also witnessed massive crowds.
To avoid public clutter, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation are plying extra buses while private vehicles have been barred from entering Trimbakeshwar to prevent traffic problems.
Extra police personnel are manning the prominent temples in the city so that the religious event culminates on a peaceful note.
