Kumbh: 50 million takes dip in Sangam on Mauni Amavasya

Prayagraj, Feb 4 (UNI) Creating a record of sort, 50 million pilgrims have taken a dip in Sangam during the auspicious Somvati Mauni Amavasya during the Kumbh here on Monday.

"The total pilgrims reaching Kumbh since it commenced on January 14, has crossed 122.5 million mark with alone on February 3 and 4 it reached 50 million," said state information director Sishir Kumar Singh on Monday evening.

He said around 70.62 million pilgrims visited Kumbh between 14 January 14 and 2 February.

For the first time choppers showered flower petals on the pilgrims during the Shahi Snan when seers of 13 Akhara took the dip in Sangam.

Meanwhile, no untoward incident was reported from anywhere so far though the pilgrims had a hard time to reach Sangam due to diversion while there were chaos at the railway and bus stand to ferry the pilgrims back to their destination.
