JCB machine buried alive after landslide in Himachal, operator trapped under debris

Shimla, May 15 (UNI) A JCB machine and a pickup truck got buried under the heap of soil after a portion of land tract loosened and slid at Jotmarg near Chamba on Wednesday morning.
Executive Engineer of Public Works Department Jeet Singh Thakur confirmed the incident and said that while the work of widening was on progress about 100 meter long hillock came down the road burring a JCB machine and a pickup truck parked near the spot, whereas the JCB operator was trapped under its debris.
As the driver of pickup truck who rushed out of the vehicle during the incident sustained injuries was later admitted to Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Kangra and was reported to be critical.

Rescue teams were deployed on the spot while after five hours of operation they did not succeed to find out the missing JCB driver.
Police Chief of Chamba Dr Monica said that a police team was sent to the spot.
She said that search operation was on and vehicular traffic restricted on the Jot-Khajiyar highway in
the district.
