J&K Govt issues advisory making lifesaving jackets compulsory for passengers using water transport

Srinagar, Apr 16 (UNI) In the wake of the boat capsizing incident in Srinagar which left at least six people dead, the Jammu and Kashmir government has issued an advisory making lifesaving jackets compulsory for passengers using water transport.
In this regard the Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Tuesday called an urgent meeting of the officers of various departments to frame the strategy to avoid unfortunate incidents of boat capsizing in the future to save precious lives, an official spokesman said.
While stressing the safety measures for Water Transportation, Div Com issued an advisory for compulsory lifesaving jackets for all on-board passengers. He also directed for safety audit of all means of water transportation.
