HP: 951 posts of doctors filled in last two years

Shimla, Feb 27 (UNI) As many as 951 posts of doctors were filled by the present govt in Himachal Pradesh to overcome the shortage of medical staff in the state.
Irrigation & Public Health Minister minister Mr Mahinder Singh Thakur stated state assembly during question hour on Thursday that about 951 posts of doctors were filled in last two years to overcome the shortage of Medical staff.
While replying to a supplementary query of Sunder Singh of Cong (Kullu) Minister, Mr Mahinder said that Jai Ram Thakur government have filled posts of 300 nurses. He said that out of 37 posts of doctors in Kullu Regional Hospital about 27 were already filled. He said that on the availability of Orthopedic surgeon vacant posts would be filled in the Kullu Hosptial.
Replying to another query raised by the Rajinder Rana of Cong (Sujanpur), Mr Thakur said that out of 12 Homeopathic centers, three posts were laying vacant in the state. He said that Government would depute the one vacant posts of doctors from Bilaspur to Sujanpur as two Homeopathic doctors were posted in the Bilaspur Hospital.
He said that vacant post of Homeopathic doctors would be filled at Lahaul Spiti from Kullu centre.
The minister informed the house that new Ultrasound machine would be provided in Government Ayurvedic Hospital Paprola in Kangra district soon as US machines provided to the Medical College Hospital in 1997 is out of order for long time.
He also that issue of provision of new US machine was also taken up with the Health Minister recently and department is being directed to start the process of new US machine soon.
Earlier Sunder Singh alleged that vacant posts of orthopedic doctor engendering life of people of Lahaul Spiti, Kullu and Mandi district due to shortage of staff. He pointed out that during court witness doctors remained vacant in the Regional Hospital Kullu.
He warned the government that in case of any eventuality vacancy of doctors lead to increase in the casualty. He alleged that Jai Ram Government is transferring filled up posts of doctors from Kullu to Medical College Hospital Neherchoke.
Cong legislator demanded that medical college should be opened in Kullu district to provide the better health facility to people on the analogy of other hospital where medical colleges have been open.
Health Minister also stated in the house that department would take cognizance into the issue of unavailability of doctor in Sujanpur Hospital last night at the time of an emergency. Government did not have any information regarding alleged emergency and about media report reply would be given by the state government after getting the report.
Earlier raising this issue through point of order Cong legislator Mr Rajinder Singh Rana alleged that a report appeared in a vernacular today in which an accident victim have been reported to suffer for many hours due unavailability of any doctors in the hospital. He said that unfortunately mishap occurred on the day when Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr Vipin Singh Parmar took the new office yesterday reliving the department of Health.
Members alleged that out of six doctors no doctors was on the station when emergency came in the hospital last evening.
He said that a doctors were provided after the intervention of Sub-divisional Magistrate Sujanpur and the first aide was given to the suffering victim.
Cong member pointed out that two specific doctors should be posted to cater the emergency in Sujanpur Hospital in the future.
