Haryana Cong celebrates Netaji's birth anniversary

Chandigarh, Jan 23 (UNI) President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee and Rajya Sabha MP, Kumari Selja presided over a function organised on the occasion of 123rd birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in party office, here on Thursday.
On this occasion, Kumari Selja along with other leaders and workers of the Party paid tributes to the Subhas Chandra Bose and remembered his great contribution in the freedom struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that Subhas Chandra Bose was the personality,who sacrificed his everything for the freedom of the country. Today, he is not between us, but his memories will always be with us, she added.
Netaji remained associated with the Congress party for a long period and held important responsibilities by serving at different posts in the Party. He was also elected as President of the Indian National Congress twice.
She said that in the year 1942, Indian National Army was formed for getting the country free from the clutches of Britishers and in 1943, Subhas Chandra Bose was made incharge of the Indian National Army. Along with the Congress, Indian National Army also contributed in the freedom struggle. Though, the path chosen by both
were different, but both had a common destination, she added.
Kumari Selja said that it was Subhas Chandra Bose who first called Gandhi Ji as Father of the Nation. She said that there were many instances of Congress politics and freedom movement, which highlighted the personal relations of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Subhas Chandra Bose.
She said that Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was almost broken after learning about the death of Subhas Chandra Bose.
After becoming Prime Minister, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru extended every possible help to the wife and
daughter of Subhas Chandra Bose.
In 1967, Indira Gandhi had said in her address that Subhas Chandra Bose was the symbol of bravery of India. It was the fire of patriotism, which encouraged him to form the Indian National Army.
In the end, I would like to say that irrespective of caste, community and religion,lakhs of people had jumped into freedom struggle to get the country free.
Now, this challenge has arised again and we should unite the whole nation. Party President, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have been trying to unite the whole nation and we all should get inspiration from them and contribute towards uniting the nation.
