Haryana cabinet approves signing of MoU for construction of two multipurpose projects

Chandigarh Dec 21 (UNI) Haryana Cabinet approved the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) amongst the shareholder states for the construction of Kishau and Renuka Multipurpose Projects on river Yamuna and its tributaries.
The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here on Friday, also granted ex post facto approval of signing the MoU of Lakhwar project.
These three multipurpose projects are proposed to be constructed one each on river Yamuna and two of its tributaries namely Giri and Tons. These projects have now been declared as projects of national importance and 90 per cent funding of water component of these projects will be given by the central government. The balance ten per cent funding of water component will be borne by shareholder states in proportion of their share in water. Haryana has a share of 47.8 per cent in Yamuna waters.
