Haryana Assy polls: Mandatory for every candidate to share complete information about his criminal records

Chandigarh, Oct 14 (UNI) Haryana Joint Chief Electoral Officer Dr Inder Jeet said that it is mandatory for every candidate contesting for 90 assembly seats of Haryana to share the complete information about their criminal records, if any, in nomination papers as well as in print and electronic media thrice during the entire election campaign.
Sharing more information on Monday, Dr Inder Jeet said that as per the Election Commission of India guidelines, while filing the nomination papers, every candidate is required to share the mandatory details of their criminal cases against them, if any, or pending cases or cases in which a candidate has been convicted.
He said that it is also mandatory that the candidates, who have criminal cases against them either pending cases or cases in which candidate has been convicted, would publish a declaration about such cases, for wide publicity, in newspapers with wide circulation in the constituency area. This declaration, he said, to be published in Format C-1, atleast on three different dates from the day following the last date for withdrawal of candidatures and upto two days before the date of the poll.
