Haryana Assy passes Sports University bill

Chandigarh, Aug 6 (UNI) Haryana Assembly on Tuesday passed the Sports University of Haryana Bill, 2019 to establish and incorporate a Sports University in the state, a specialized university, to promote sports education in the areas of sports sciences, sports technology, sports management and sports coaching besides functioning as the training centre for select sports disciplines by adopting best international practices and for matter connected therewith or incidental thereto.
The headquarters of the University would be at Rai in district Sonipat and it may establish or maintain outlying campuses, colleges, regional centres and study centres at such other places in the state, as it may deem fit. The University may, with the prior approval of the state government, also establish outlying campuses and study centres outside the state. The University will be open to persons of any sex and of whatever caste, creed, race or class.
The objects of the University would be to evolve as an institute of advanced study in the field of physical education and sports sciences. It will provide for research and development and dissemination of knowledge in physical education and sports sciences by providing specially designed academic and training programmes in various areas of physical education and sports sciences and training in advanced technologies of sports.
