Growth in Internet use propels economic progress of rural areas: TRAI

Raipur 15 Oct (UNI) Telecom Authority of India (TRAI) has said that rural areas are witnessing rapid financial development with growing use of internet for the last three years. Speaking at a Seminar on “Digital India –A Platform for Economic progress and Changing social Life in Rural area” organized by TRAI, the TRAI Advisor Vinod Gupta said that before year 2016, internet usage in rural areas was in the average MB per consumer per month but now about 10 GB data is being used by each mobile user per month in rural areas and data uses is further increasing day by day.
Describing in detail the importance of Digital India project in social and economic development of rural areas, he gave the statistics of the progress made in rural India in the field of information communication in the last few years. Centre, state governments and all other government and non-government institutions are making great efforts towards this direction, he said.
Rajat Moona, Director IIT Bhilai, in his key-note address spoke about future technologies 5G, Internet on Thing etc. and their uses in rural India. He further said that every brain in this world are being connected through Information Communication Technology and sharing information, knowledge, cultural,social values, learning and doing business is most important and common now a days. In his presentation he said that internet bandwidth being made available with the help of fiber is becoming a largest medium of change in the country.
