GOACAN calls for capacity building programes for members of VP committees

Panaji, Sep 15 (UNI) On the occasion of International Day of Democracy with the theme 'Participation', Goa Civic and Consumer Action Network (GOACAN) has highlighted the need for training and capacity building programs for members of various committees set up in the Village Panchayats of Goa.
In a letter to Gopal A Parsekar, Director of Panchayats, GOACAN has pointed out that the programs would not only motivate the committee members but also increase their participation in various activities related to their respective committees.
The letter has stated that while the programs would provide a boost to the activities of the Village Development Committee (VDC) which is tasked to prepare the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) for the year 2019-20, it would also improve the participation and discussions at the regular meetings of the Gram Sabhas being held in January, April, July and October in the respective Panchayats.
