Lucknow Nov 4 (UNI) The 15th Finance Commission will arrive here next month on December 17. It’s likely to stay in state capital for two days.
FC during the stay will hold meetings with the chief minister Yogi Adityanath and top officials of the finance department. UP government will submit its memorandum of demands to the commission by the first week of next month.
The FC team would be headed by the former bureaucrat and Janata Dal (U) Rajya Sabha MP N K Singh.
UP government is likely to plead for additional funds for the burgeoning needs for the infrastructure development and also special grants for economically backward eastern Uttar Pradesh and parched region of Bundelkhand before the Finance Commission, official sources here on Sunday said.
The finance commission as mandated by the article 280 of the constitution is constituted by the Centre every fifth year to look into the devolution of resources between the centre and the state.
The cabinet committee of economic affairs had approved the proposal for setting up the FC on November 22, last year.
This is the first finance commission to be set up after the implementation of the Goods and service tax from July 1, 2017.
