Finance Commission expresses concern over growing debt & shrinking agriculture in Karnataka.

Bengaluru, Jun 25(UNI) The Fifteenth Finance Commission Chairman N K Singh while appreciating Karnataka Government’s efforts to maintain overall fiscal deficit, expressed a grave concern over increasing debt liability and increasing low agriculture productivity in the State.
Addressing newsmen here on Tuesday, Singh maintained that “there exists two Karnataka-- one Prosperous and the another one is of impoverished”.
Stating that Karnataka stood top as for as per capita Income is concerned, which is above the national average, Singh expressed dismay that it is not compatible with the status of poverty prevailed in the State. “The poverty rate in Karnataka is unacceptably high, there exists Intra-State disparity,” he added.
