Discom privatisation : Electricity Department employees resume strike in Pondy

Puducherry, May 23 (UNI) Employees of the Puducherry Electricity Department on Monday resumed their strike in protest against the privatization of Electricity Distribution Company (Discom) in the Union Territory by the Union Government.
It may be noted that when the news about the privatization of the discom came out some time back, the employees resorted to a strike and called off it temporarily following an assurance from Chief Minister N Rangaswamy that a decision will be taken in such a way that none will be affected after holding discussions with department staff, public and political parties.
However, nothing was materialized and it came to know that the Cabinet had given approval for the privatization of Electricity Distribution Company.
