Puducherry, Jun 3 (UNI)Congress legislator from Bahour constituency Dhanavelu on Wednesday appeared before Speaker Sivaklounthu and sought more time to give his explanation on the notice why action should not be taken against him under the anti-defection act.
Dhanavleu had raised a revolt against the government and was suspended from the party. Meanwhile, Government whip Anantharaman submitted a memorandum to the Speaker seeking disqualification of Dhanavelu under the anti-defection act, following which the Speaker sent a notice to the legislator.
However, Dhanavelu moved the Madras High Court which directed the Speaker to give time to Dhanavelu to explain. Though, Dhanavelu appeared before the Speaker thrice earlier, every time he sought more time citing some reasons or the other.
