Death penalties may not stop people committing crime : DGP

Hyderabad, Aug 17 (UNI) Death penalties may not stop people committing crime, but certainly the certainty of being caught and punished may prevent them from committing the crime, Telangana state Director General of Police (DGP) Mr Mahendar Reddy said here on Saturday.
There are more chances of going scot-free and unidentified. But, this will soon be the thing of past. We are working more towards this aspect. The ability to detect and punish the offenders is the basic foundation of law enforcement in the state, Mr Reddy said, while interacting with 100 plus FICCI Ladies (FLO) members along with Inspector General of Police (women ‘safety) and In-charge SHE teams and Bharosa Swati Lakra.
Many big cases being solved in 24 to 48 hours but the next big thing after solving a case and finding offenders is getting them convicted, the top Police Official said.
