COVID-19: Seven positive cases detected in IGMC, HP

Shimla, Apr 4 (UNI) out of 54 samples sent for testing, reports of seven have come positive for Novel Coronavirus in the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital here, an official confirmed on Saturday.
Senior Superintendent of IGMC hospital Dr Janak Raj said that seven cases were found positive for COVID-19, while 47 came out negative.
He said that these were first seven cases detected by the microbiology lab at IGMC.
So far, the state has detected six cases in Dr Rajinder Prasad Medical College Hospital, Tanda in Kangra district.
With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases increased to 13 in the hill state, while the results of 33 tests of COVID-19 suspects conducted at Tanda on Saturday, have not been declared so far.
The state has recorded one death of COVID-19, till date.
Additional Chief Secretary of Health R D Dhiman also confirmed the report of seven positive cases.
He said these seven people had reportedly come in contact with a 68-year-old woman, a factory owner in the Industrial area of Jharmajari in Baddi, who died of COVID-19 at PGI Chandigarh on Thursday.
He said that out of these, four were already shifted outside the state, while three were shifted at IGMC, Shimla.
Addressing the media here on Friday, Mr Dhiman confirmed that seven people came in direct contact with the COVID-19 patient, who died in PGI on Thursday, while 22 others were found secondary contacts.
All the people were tested for COVID-19 at IGMC Shimla, he added.
