COVID-19: Gutka, pan masala likely to be banned in UP

Lucknow, Mar 24 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government is planning to ban gutka and pan masala as a coronavirus patient can exponentially spread the deadly virus by chewing and spitting them.
"Spitting in the open after consuming gutka and pan masala is really a big problem and government was considering to ban these items which are most harmful for the society in this era of coronavirus", state additional chief secretary (home) Awnish Awasthi said here on Tuesday.
The senior official said as state is going for a curfew for next three days, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has warned that if anyone found black marketing and hoarding daily essentials, the government will not hesitate to even book him/her in stringent National Security Act.
