Construction Workers in Fatehgarh Sahib 'Get it' from all quarters !

Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 14 (UNI) The state government has been making concerted efforts for the welfare of construction workers by extending financial assistance of upto Rs 28, 08, 44, 519 to 12,408 of them under the ambit of various welfare schemes which come under "Punjab building and other construction workers welfare board" in Fatehgarh Sahib.
Giving details about this, Dr. Prashant Kumar Goyal, Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib said various schemes are being run by the board for the welfare of construction workers through which registered construction workers gets benefit. As such, he appealed to the construction workers to take maximum benefits of these welfare schemes by registering themselves with the Board.

The Deputy Commissioner said scholarship scheme is also being run by the welfare board, wherein scholarship of Rs. 5000 for boys is being provided to children of construction workers studying in class sixth to class eighth and Rs. 7000 for girls. Similarly, the boys studying in ninth & tenth standard gets Rs. 10,000 and girls gets Rs. 13,000 as scholarship. Also the boys studying in class eleventh & twelfth gets Rs. 20,000 and girls gets Rs. 25,000 as scholarship under the scheme. Similarly for higher education including graduation courses in colleges, ITI/ Polytechnics/ B.Sc. Nursing, Rs. 40000 (including hostel Fee) is being provided to boys and Rs. 45 thousand (including hostel fee) is being provided to girl students.

On the same pattern for further studies such as Medical/ Engineering Courses/ BE/ MBBS Rs. 60 thousand is being provided to boys and Rs. 70000 is being provided to girl students. He disclosed that under the Shagun scheme, the board provides financial assistance worth Rs. 31 thousand for the marriage of girls and also for the marriage of female construction workers. This benefit is provided to the beneficiary, even if he/ she stands covered under any other scheme. He said in case of sudden mishap or completely handicap due to accident a lump sum amount of Rs. 2 lakhs is being provided and Rs. 1.5 lakhs are provided in case of natural death of the construction worker.
He further disclosed that Rs. 2000 is being provided as LTC to the construction workers in the duration of 2 years for visiting any religious/ historic place. Besides this for treatment of chronic disease such as cancer, Heart Surgery, Kidney Transplant, Rs. 1 lakhs is provided. Rs. 20 thousand is provided to the family member on the sudden death of Industrial worker or of his family member for the last rituals.
