Cong to waive off farm loans, grant pension to elderly farmers

Jaipur, Nov 29 (UNI) Unfazed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "anti-farmer" jibe against its chief Rahul Gandhi, the opposition Congress not only reiterated it's commitment for farm loan waiver, but also promised for provision of pension for elderly peasants, in the event of installation of the party-led government in Rajasthan, after Assembly polls.
The commitment of waiving of agriculture loans within 10 days after formation of new government was made in the manifesto-Jan Ghoshana Patra-, released by the grand old party here on Thursday, in the presence of AICC General Secretaries Ashok Gehlot and Avinash Pandey, party state president Sachin Pilot and other state leaders.
The party also promised grant of pension for elderly farmers, but did not elaborate on the issue.
State Chief Mr Pilot clarified that modalities and quantum of pension would be worked out by a panel that would be formed for the implementation of the manifesto.
For free medical care to all, the party assured enactment of Right to the Health Act and free education for girls for their entire academics career, right from the elementary education to the PG and post PG level.
The 44-page document covered a full range of issues, pertaining to development in various sectors and alleviation of living conditions for the people of weaker sections.
