Centre misled farmers: Congress

Shimla, August 6 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee chief Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Saturday accused central government of misleading farmers, claiming that 'farmers have not received any benefit under the policies enacted by it'.
In a press conference held here at Congress Office Rajiv Bhawan, Sukhu said: "Farmers were promised by Modi Government to double their income by 2022, five years ago. Today the farmers or apple growers are virtually on the roads due to anti-farmer policies of the Centre."
Himachal, known for apple production, facing danger to its economy as government imposed 18% GST on the cartons. Owing to apple Grower's protest, state government is trying to refunds six percent. No Agriculture products should be tax and levying 18 per cent GST on the packing material is unprecedented, he added.
