BSF seizes over 10 kg heroin from Punjab Border

Jalandhar, Feb 19 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) seized 10 packets of contraband, suspected to be heroin, from the area of responsibility of 29 Bn BSF in Ferozepur sector, here on Friday.
A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontiers’ Headquarter here on Friday said that the alert troops observed some suspicious movement near the border security fence. The BSF troops challenged them to stop but they pair no heed following which the troops resorted to firing after which the miscreants fled towards the Pakistan territory.
The BSF team searched the area and recovered ten packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 10. 265 kg were recovered from the area. The value of the heroin seized is said to be more than Rs 51 crore in the international market, he added.
