BSF seizes 1.6 kg heroin from Punjab border

Jalandhar, Jul 1 (UNI) Border Security Force on Monday recovered 1.6 kg heroin from the area of responsibility near Border out Post (BoP) Kassoke in Ferozepur sector.
According to a BSF spokesperson at the Punjab Frontiers HQ here, the troops of 136 battalion of the BSF late Sunday night observed suspicious movements of some mischievous persons near the BoP Kassoke along the International border. When challenged they fled towards the Pakistan territory.
During search operation launched early this morning, the BSF troops recovered some wooden boxes containing contraband suspected to be heroin which weighed 1.6 kg from the area. Value of the contraband seized is said to be Rs eight crore in the international market.
