Botched-up ops: 3 victims to be sent to Chennai

Bhopal, Aug 18 (UNI) In compliance with a directive by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, three patients – affected by ocular surgery performed at an Indore-based infirmary – shall be rushed to Chennai by air early Monday for treatment at Sankara Nethralaya, official sources said.
Each victim is to be accompanied by an attendant and a doctor. Public Health Minister Tulsiram Silawat and ophthalmologist Rajiv Raman reached Choithram Hospital to see the sufferers. Mr Silawat spent in excess of five hours there and discussed arrangements for therapy. Four persons are being operated upon by Dr Raman.
The Minister along with the Divisional Commissioner and the Collector held a meeting with members of a inquiry committee. District Programme Manager (Blindness Prevention) TS Hora has been placed under suspension as he was found prima facie negligent. Show cause notices have been served to Dhar’s Chief Medical and Health Officer SK Saral, Indore’s CMHO Praveen Jadiya and Dr Hemant Sinha.
