Lucknow, Aug 14(UNI) The last accused in the Babri demolition case O P Pandey appeared before the special CBI trial court on Thursday and recorded his statement.
Earlier, the court had issued non available warrant against Pandey and even declared him as 'absconder'. The court had even processed attachment of property of Pandey for violating the court orders.
After the appearance, the court granted a bail to Pandey on a surety of Rs 50,000.
In his statement, the accused Pandey said that he was not aware of the non bailable warrant as he was engaged in some religious ritual in Rishikesh for early construction of the Ram Temple.
"When I came to attend the Bhoomi pujan in Ayodhya on August 5, I came to know about the warrant and hence rushed here to appear before the court," he stated.
Pandey also pleaded innocence in the case.
Meanwhile, former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh submitted the written statement and evidences of his innocence in the court on Thursday whereas the special court has given other accused time till today to submit their written statements.
The court is expected to give its verdict by the end of this month.
